Meet Dr. Kaplan

Dr. Matthew Kaplan was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Minor in Chemistry.

Dr. Kaplan attended medical school at the Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. Upon graduation, he completed his surgical internship at the University Medical Center and Trauma Center in Las Vegas. At the time of his attendance, the university was the fifth busiest trauma center in the nation. Dr. Kaplan returned to Philadelphia to complete his anesthesia residency at University of Pennsylvania. After residency, Dr. Kaplan attended TUFTS Medical Center, Baystate Campus to completed his pain fellowship, where he earned the position of Chief Fellow.

Dr. Kaplan Is Focused On Resolving Your Pain

His early experiences in pain management included a position as Chief of Pain Management at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare All Saints in Racine, WI. Despite his successes at the facility, Dr. Kaplan convicted to follow his dream of opening his own pain center. Drawn towards the southern hospitality & sense of community, Dr. Kaplan moved to Round Rock, Texas, and founded Preferred Spine & Pain.

Dogs and Causes

Dr. Kaplan is enamored by the Austin-Round Rock area. He enjoys the weather, and vast amount of outdoor activities that the region provides. When Dr. Kaplan  not treating patients, he enjoys exercising, cooking, and is currently learning how to play golf. Dr. Kaplan loves his two tail waggers, Jasiri & Gigi. Gigi prefers to lounge around, but Jasiri is full of energy and makes for a good running companion. Dr. Kaplan also supports many pet rescue organizations across Central Texas, including as Austin Pets Alive.
Dr Kaplan listens to you and hears when your telling him what works for you and what doesn’t because it’s your body and it’s you that’s experiencing the pain. I highly recommend him.
